The food is delicious and the dishes are varied. The service is excellent, and the staff are always smiling.
We chose Akiko to celebrate our daughter's 17th birthday, and while the evening had some highlights, the overall dining experience was mixed. The ambience and atmosphere were lovely, creating a pleasant setting for a special occasion. The starters were excellent and lived up to our expectations in terms of both quality and flavor. Unfortunately, the main courses were a major disappointment. We ordered the Salmon Teriyaki, but the fish was significantly overcooked, dry, and lacked the distinct teriyaki flavor we were expecting. I also ordered the Miso Black Cod, which was well below average and honestly one of the least enjoyable black cod dishes I have ever had. On a positive note, the staff surprised us with a complimentary brownie for my daughter's birthday. It was a thoughtful and kind gesture that we genuinely appreciated and it added a special touch to the celebration. Overall, the service and atmosphere were good, and the starters set a promising tone. However, the poor quality of the main courses was disappointing enough to overshadow much of the experience. I hope the restaurant pays more attention to the consistency and quality of its signature dishes, as the potential is certainly there.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Akiko is absolutely amazing! The sushi was fresh and beautifully presented. The drinks were creative and stunning. The karaage chicken was crispy and delicious, and the passion fruit cheesecake was the perfect ending. Great ambiance, lovely staff, and food that looks as good as it tastes. Highly recommend! 🍣
Amazing food Everything is flavorful I had a pleasant Iftar experience There is unlimited salad bar, and each dish stands out. The salad bar consist of multiple salads and fruits. Every person is served with Laban dates and unlimited juices, the karkade juice is so refreshing. They also serve warm flavorful soup. For the main dish, they have variety of options. We had the mini sushi platter. In fact, even though it is mini. The platter has variety of sushi. We also had salmon teriyaki rice. Salmon was perfectly stirred fried and glazed with sweet sauce served with sticky rice. It was the best. At the end, they served us chocolate pudding topped with ice cream scoop. I will definitely revisit the place again and it’s worth every penny. Even though the place was crowded, but the staff were very friendly and caring.
We tried Akiko at Opera Galleria—an interesting choice for the evening, especially if you’re in the mood for Asian cuisine with strong Japanese options. We sampled a wide range from the menu, and honestly, every dish stood out. The taste was exceptional across the board—easily a 5/5. I genuinely can’t single out one dish over another; they were all consistently excellent. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant and different, though not particularly special in terms of setup—but still comfortable and fitting. Pricing was on the higher side, as expected for this category. Overall, one of the best restaurants of its style in Muscat. Highly recommended if food quality is your priority.
