Begin your journey with a visit to a family-run camel farm, far from tourist crowds. Next, head to Burj Al Askar, a historic military tower perched above Taqah, offering panoramic views of the coast and city below. Learn about its strategic role in Dhofar's history while sipping on traditional Karak tea, brewed fresh just for you. Continue into the mountains toward Wadi Darbat, where lush greenery, grazing camels, and (in season) cascading waterfalls create an oasis of calm. This is one of the most photogenic spots in Oman — bring your camera. Climb higher to reach Jebel Samhan, Dhofar’s highest viewpoint. From here, look out over dramatic cliffs and the Arabian Sea stretching to the horizon. This is one of Oman’s natural wonders. Make a quick stop at the Gravity Hill — where your 4x4 seems to roll uphill — and then wander among rare Baobab trees, an ancient species more common in Africa, but mysteriously growing here in Salalah’s highlands.
