Description
Day One: Begin your day by making a visit to Nizwa city (a former capital of Oman). Start exploring the city by visiting the nearby souk and take a break to browse and purchase some Omani silver crafts and other beautiful handmade items. See the different varieties of dates and taste Omani halwa (Omani sweet). Next, stroll over to the Nizwa Fort and castle to learn more about the history of Oman. Lets have lunch at a local restaurant and try Omani delicious food. Then we drive to Al Hamra town and Misfat Al abryeen, Here some of the old preserved houses in Oman can be found. Wander the alleyways, walk along the gardens, and make sure to stop at an old house converted into the famous living Omani museum: Bait Al Safah. Here you have the chance to take in and learn about heritage of how things are done in the mountains away from the capital. After that we drive up in the mountains, Jabal shams (the tallest mountain in Arabian peninsula) where you will discover a massive gorge, wadi nakhur, named 'The grand canyon of Oman'. There you can watch the sunset and spend the night at one of the mountain camps. Day two; After the breakfast we head to the starting point of the hike. Start hike and do the famous 'Rim Walk' along the grand canyon totaling 3-4 hours roundtrip. Note: You can finish the hike at anytime you want and you don't have to do it all. In the end we drive back to Muscat.Includes
