An Unforgettable Omani Dining Experience with Stunning Views! Bait Al Luban is a masterpiece of Omani culture and hospitality. Located right by the Murtha market, the restaurant is highly accessible with an elevator available for wheelchair access. Paid parking is ample and convenient. The first floor functions as a beautiful cafe and art exhibit space, while the second floor opens up to a gorgeous dining area overlooking the sea and the historic fort. The interior is deeply artistic, showcasing Oman's rich heritage through authentic artifacts. They cater to all preferences with indoor and outdoor seating, offering both standard tables and chairs as well as traditional floor mat seating. We were immediately welcomed with a lovely, aromatic drink of edible luban (frankincense) infused water—a beautiful local touch. Our dinner highlights included: Meat Shuwa: Exceptionally tender and served with deeply flavorful Qabuli rice. Chicken Makbus Dijaj: Perfectly seasoned chicken paired with another incredibly flavorful rice variety. Muradhaf/ Dates roti: Slightly sweet flat bread Khobose Rakhal: Paper like Omani flat bread like dosa Sizzling Dates Brownie: Served with cold ice cream. The magic happened when they poured milk right onto the sizzling plate at the table, making it amazingly delicious. To end the night, they served complimentary traditional Omani coffee and dates. My son gave a very valid feedback that they need to have pictures in the menu card.. even a child observed that for tourism, it's important to show people what will be served and can be expected! Overall, Bait al Luban is an atmospheric, cozy gem that serves genuine, delicious Omani cuisine in an authentically decorated setting. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an immersive cultural and culinary experience.
We had a wonderful experience at this Omani restaurant. The food was fresh, flavorful, and gave us a great taste of authentic Omani cuisine. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Supun was amazing and so kind. The whole atmosphere was warm and beautifully traditional.
Visited Bait Al Luban Omani Restaurant today with the intention of trying their traditional Omani dishes. Unfortunately, I was not able to dine in as they required a prior reservation. It was a bit disappointing after coming all the way, but the place looked very popular and well organized, which explains the booking system. I would recommend booking in advance before visiting. Hopefully next time I’ll get to enjoy their authentic Omani food experience.
The starters particularly the grilled *Mishkak* skewers, crispy vegetable fritters, and comforting *Shorba*—offered a solid, flavorful introduction to the meal. However, the centerpiece **Shuwa** plate fell short. While the presentation is authentic, the meat lacked the deep, melt-in-your-mouth tenderness and intense, slow-roasted spice penetration found in truly exceptional, traditional versions of the dish. **Rating:** Good for atmosphere and appetizers, but passable for the main event.
Honestly the best restaurant in the area, recommended by my local friend for a range of authentic dishes. Visited twice in the end. All food top notch. By accident I ordered harees (ayres) in the local dialect. I normally hate it but it was actually really good here. Also vegetable (potentially vegan) dishes available. Fava beans or the coconut spinach are great mains to try, flavourful and light. Completely over ordered, maybe 30-40 OMR for two. Staff very friendly and attentive, dates and coffee (with a bit of rose water) on the house.
