I was told this is where locals go for seafood and it did not disappoint. Very simple, no frills, excellent value and full of flavour. I ordered grilled fish and fish biryani. The grilled fish was beautifully marinated, perfectly cooked, and I asked for it spicy which they delivered with a really good kick. The biryani was generous, fragrant, and comforting. The service was genuinely warm and welcoming. The staff and service team were incredibly friendly, helpful, and happy to explain the dishes, which made the whole experience even better. Everything came to around OMR 3.50, which is incredible for the quality and portion size. Proper local seafood, affordable, honest, and very satisfying. I would happily come back. One thing to note: the restaurant is called Samakani, but on Google Maps it may only show the branch nearer the airport. There is also another Samakani branch right next to the Plaza Hotel, literally in the neighbouring building, which doesn’t always appear clearly on Maps as it’s listed in Arabic.
