Visited Umm Zahra Restaurant at their Al Khuwair branch, located right next to TeaTime, and it was a genuinely memorable experience. This place specialises in authentic Omani cuisine and does it really well. The menu features different types of meat, rich gravies, and traditional rice dishes that carry real Omani flavour — the kind that is hard to find elsewhere in Muscat. We tried their signature Shuwa with both mutton and camel meat. Every bite was deep in flavour and felt like a proper traditional meal rather than a restaurant approximation of one. The place is well suited for family gatherings and they also accept bulk and party orders which is convenient for larger groups. They have two branches in Muscat, one in Amerat and one in Al Khuwair. Open daily from 11 AM to 12 midnight, and delivery is available on Talabat and TM Done. If you are looking for authentic Omani food in Muscat, this is one of the better options out there and genuinely worth the visit.

The Omani shish was outstanding! The meat was perfectly cooked — tender and literally melting in the mouth. The seasoning was spot on. The Omani chicken was also very tasty. However, the rice portions were huge and honestly impossible to finish. The hummus was good, but the Greek salad didn’t resemble the original at all — it had far too much pepper, the feta was more of a “feta-style” cheese, and the pomegranate really shouldn’t have been there. I ordered it mainly because there was no other vegetarian spread available and the vegetarian options overall were very limited. That said, meat lovers should definitely come here.
