Description

The full-day or half-day tour begins with hotel pickup from Salalah or Hawana Salalah. The journey starts in the coastal town of Taqa, a traditional fishing village with active fishermen and vibrant birdlife. The Taqa cliff offers panoramic views of the town and sea and is ideal for photography.

You can explore several historical sites in Taqa including the 19th-century Taqa Castle, Koofan Heritage House (a 150-year-old Dhofari home), and Burj Al Askar, a cliff-top lookout with views over the castle and turquoise coast. Entrance to these sites is optional and not included in the price; you may also view them externally.

Next, the tour visits Wadi Darbat, the most popular natural attraction in Dhofar. Seasonal waterfalls and lush greenery surround the canal where optional kayak or boat rides are available. You may also see camels cooling off in the water. The wadi remains a scenic location year-round, though full waterfalls occur mainly during Khareef (monsoon season).

For full-day travelers, the tour continues to Tawi Attair Sinkhole, also called the “Birds Well.” Then ascend to Jabal Samhan, Southern Oman’s highest peak at 4,000 feet, where you will stand above the clouds along the cliff edges, one of the region’s most photographed sites.

The afternoon includes a visit to Wadi Hinna to see ancient Baobab trees known for their size and rarity in the area. The tour then proceeds to the Anti-Gravity Hill, where optical illusions make vehicles appear to roll uphill in neutral.

Before returning, the group explores the Ad Damar Dunes near Mirbat, where sand dunes meet mountains and coastline. The day finishes with hotel drop-off.
