Description

Depart Muscat and travel to Nizwa, Oman's former capital. Visit Nizwa Market (Souq) to see vendors selling vegetables, pottery, jewelry, handicrafts, Omani sweets (Halwa), dates, spices, and souvenirs.

Adjacent to the Souq is Nizwa Fortress, an impressive 17th-century stronghold now operating as a museum. Explore its rooms, passages, and towers reflecting the Yaruba dynasty’s heritage.

Continue to Misfat Al Abreyeen, a traditional village on a steep slope near Jebel Shams. Walk through the village to see the ancient Falaj water system feeding orchards, date palms, and gardens.

Drive up Jebel Shams Mountain (3009 meters), known for its off-road access and scenic views. Reach the canyon viewpoint at 2000 meters elevation, then proceed to a resort for an overnight stay.

On day two, hike the W6 trail for about 4 hours along the canyon edge, offering views of wadi valleys below.

After trekking, visit Jabreen Castle, built in 1670 by Balarab bin Sultan Bin Saif Al Ya'arubi and restored in 1984. The castle’s interiors feature traditional furniture, wood carvings, ceiling paintings, and stucco work. Return to Muscat after the visit.
