Description
The tour departs from Muscat to Nizwa, the former capital of Oman. Start with a visit to Nizwa Fort, now a museum showcasing the fort’s history and its strategic military role. Walking through the fortress offers views of the ancient town and surrounding mountains.
Adjacent to the fort is Nizwa Souq, a local market selling jewelry, pottery, fish, meats, and more. After the souq, continue to Al Hamra Old Village to experience traditional Omani village life. Follow marked footpaths to explore the village at a relaxed pace.
From Al Hamra, drive to Jebel Shams mountain. Known as the Grand Canyon of Oman, this area offers expansive views and natural scenery to explore. The tour returns to Muscat in the late afternoon.
