Description
This 4-day trip covers Wadi Shab, Sur, the desert, and Nizwa, combining natural beauty, cultural heritage, and adventure.
Day 1: Muscat – Wadi Shab – Bimmah Sinkhole – Sur
Start in Muscat and drive along the coastal road to Wadi Shab. Hike through cliffs to turquoise pools and a waterfall. Then visit Bimmah Sinkhole, a limestone crater with emerald water. Continue to Sur to see the dhow factory and spend the evening near Al Ayjah Lighthouse. Overnight in Sur.
Day 2: Sur – Wadi Bani Khalid – Wahiba Sands
Visit Wadi Bani Khalid, a peaceful oasis with clear pools and palm groves, ideal for swimming. Then travel to Wahiba Sands for dune bashing, camel riding, and sunset views. Overnight at a Bedouin-style desert camp.
Day 3: Wahiba Sands – Jebel Akhdar – Nizwa
Watch the desert sunrise then drive to Jebel Akhdar, known as The Green Mountain. Explore terraced farms, villages like Al Ayn and Saiq, rose gardens, and pomegranate orchards. Proceed to Nizwa, the cultural capital, visiting Nizwa Fort and the busy souq famous for silver, pottery, and Omani crafts. (Return to Muscat hotel available for an extra fee.)
Day 4: Muscat
Explore Muscat’s main sights including Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Mutrah Souq, Royal Opera House, and Al Jalali and Al Mirani forts. End with a walk along the Corniche to enjoy the coastal atmosphere.
