Description

This full-day tour begins with a morning drive to Nizwa, the capital of Oman during the Al Yaruba Dynasty. At Nizwa Souq (market), you can browse traditional stalls selling vegetables, pottery, jewelry, handicrafts, Omani sweets (halwa), spices, and souvenirs. The Friday cattle market presents a local trade scene with goats, cattle, sheep, and chickens sold in an open marketplace.

Adjacent to the souq is Nizwa Fort and Castle. The fort, built in 1649, and the castle, dating back to 888, showcase the military and architectural achievements of the mid-17th-century Yaruba dynasty. The fort today serves as a museum and offers panoramic views of the town and surrounding mountains. Its design includes defensive corridors and hidden traps to deter invaders.

Next, the tour ascends to Jabal Akhdar (Green Mountain), part of the Hajar Mountain Range. Known for its green terraced gardens, especially around villages on the Saiq Plateau, this area is famous for growing fruits such as pomegranates, apricots, apples, olives, grapes, roses, peaches, and walnuts. Walking trails explore areas like Wadi Bani Habib, Shrejah, Al Ain, and Al Aqur.

The final stop is Birkat Al Moz, home to a large falaj irrigation system listed by UNESCO. This system provides water to date palms and vegetable orchards. Visitors can enjoy walking through the old village area to understand traditional irrigation and agriculture in Oman.
