The Friday cattle market is an added attraction, featuring local farmers selling goats, cattle, sheep, and chickens in an open marketplace.
Next to the souq is Nizwa Fort and Castle. The fort, built in 1649, and the castle, dating back to 888, showcase early Yaruba dynasty architecture.
