Description
This tour offers a deeper look at Salalah, combining natural beauty and cultural heritage in a balanced half-day itinerary.
Your tour begins at Sultan Qaboos Mosque, a modern architectural landmark built in gleaming white marble. Inside, admire intricate Islamic designs, peaceful courtyards, and spacious prayer halls. Modest dress is required: women must cover hair, arms, and legs; men must wear long trousers and sleeved shirts. Note that during Ramadan 2026 (approximately 17 February to 17 March), non-Muslim visitors can only view mosques from the outside.
Visit a traditional Yemeni shop to explore local products such as dates, spices, artisanal coffee, and handcrafted goods, offering insight into Yemeni influences and flavors.
Next, experience Al Gharif, a youth-led eco-cultural project. Walk among banana trees and vegetable gardens, observe traditional irrigation channels (saqiya), and learn about sustainable farming and local heritage.
Continue to Al Haffa Souq, known for centuries-old frankincense trading. Browse stalls filled with locally harvested incense, handmade perfumes, and Omani crafts while engaging with vendors and learning frankincense’s cultural significance.
View the exterior of Al Hush Palace, a former sultan’s palace, for photography and historic context.
An optional visit to the Royal Plantation Trail (Razat Royal Farm) is available for 5 OMR per person. Opened in August 2025 by royal decree, it offers lush agricultural trails, tropical orchards, and traditional farming, including Oman’s Razat bananas.
The final stop is at the outskirts of Salalah, where you can meet camels in their natural habitat. Depending on the season, you may see camel calves while learning about the camels’ role in local culture and the region’s environment.
