Al Kittan Cave

Located in Ibri, Al Kittan cave is 145 km from Nizwa. This is a limestone rock cave with a circular horizontal entrance of 1metre radius. One has to lie flat to enter the cave. This is perhaps one of the oldest caves in Oman and from the best in the country. There are several chambers in the cave with one main chamber which is around 7000 metre large.

The Kittan displays classic examples of stalactites and stalagmite and other cave formations. The cave is very attractive as it is made up with recrystallized limestone. There are also coloured stalactites which are generally due to the deposition of impurities. The whole of the main chamber is like a marble doom and showcases extraordinary beauty.
