Step through the fortified entrance and explore the fascinating depths of Al Hoota Cave, one of Oman’s top natural attractions, located at the foot of Jebel Shams. Walk along illuminated pathways as you admire impressive stalactites and stalagmites and spot famous formations such as the Lion’s Head, the Old Man, and the Chinese Cat. Look out for bats flying overhead and the dark central lake, home to rare blind fish found only in this unique cave system.
Estimated to be over 2 million years old, Al Hoota Cave is the first and only show cave in the Arabian Peninsula. The cave extends for about 4.5 km, with 500 metres accessible to visitors, and features a delicate ecosystem with underground lakes and unique wildlife, including the rare Garra Barreimiae (Bu Naseh). Knowledgeable local guides lead 45-minute tours in English and Arabic, ensuring a safe, informative, and memorable experience while preserving the cave’s natural environment.
