Sohar Fort

This well-restored, four storey white building with 5 round towers and 1 square keep was believed to have been built during the rule of Baha Al Din Ayaella, Prince of Hormuz. A 10 km long escape tunnel is also found in this fort that would have been used during the siege.
The Sohar Fort also houses the tomb of Sayyid Thuwaini bin Said who reigned this part of the empire after the death of his father.
The fort also has a small museum showcasing artifacts and giving the history of the area.

Saturday – Thursday 9am to 4pm
Friday 8am to 11am
