Description
Begin your culinary journey with a taste of Omani Shuwa, a dish where meat or chicken is buried underground for period ranging from 8 hours to 24 hours, wrapped in banana leaves and spices, and fermented for over 40 days. This dish is served with rice cooked with meat spices, known as Qabuli. After the main course, enjoy Omani Halwa with coffee. This sweet treat is made with nuts, honey, saffron, ghee, cardamom, and some secret ingredients. Next, savor light meals that Omanis brought from East Africa, specifically Zanzibar, such as samosas, mandazi, kachori, and katlisi. Then, try slices of Omani bread with various flavors like cheese, honey, date juice, eggs, potatoes, or thyme. Sip on tea mixed with spices like ginger, saffron, cardamom, cinnamon, and milk. Finally, enjoy the mashkak, which is grilled pieces of meat, chicken or squid with a tamarind-like sauce, accompanied by traditional Omani spices. Note: You can replace meat or chicken with fish or salad if you are vegetarian.Includes
